Hiking

I first started really to enjoy hiking and backpacking when I lived in Denver after college. Currently, I'm chipping away at the Appalachian Trail one section hike at a time.

I've hiked only a fraction of the trail so far.

  1. May 18-21, 2004: Dennis Cove to Highway 91
    My first AT section hike.
  2. June 24-26, 2005: Highway 91 (Shady Grove, TN) to Damascus, VA
    After having to leave the trail last year at Highway 91, I wanted to finish my planned trip to Damascus.
  3. August 18-19, 2005: Carver's Gap to US-19E
    I wanted to take Caitlin on a section of the AT. We walked a total of 13.7 miles from Carver's Gap on the TN/NC border to the AT crossing of US 19-E in TN.
  4. September 15-17, 2006: US-19E to Hampton, TN

  5. June 22-24, 2007: Carver's Gap to Erwin, TN

  6. May 2-4, 2008: Devil Fork Gap to Spivey Gap
    Coming soon.
  7. October 11-12, 2008: Spivey Gap to Erwin, TN

  8. August 21-23, 2009: Devil Fork Gap to Hot Springs, NC
    Coming soon.
  9. March 4-5, 2011: I-40 to Max Patch Road
    I started a hike toward Hot Springs from I-40 at Waterville, but left the trail at Max Patch Road.
  10. November 11-13, 2011: Max Patch Road to Hot Springs, NC
    Three and a half months after a bowel resection, I finished the hike to Hot Springs that I had abandoned in March.
